100 Asos customer care centre jobs at risk of redundancy

Asos has kicked off a consultation process with customer care centre staff as part of an ongoing restructuring scheme that places around 100 jobs at risk of redundancy.

A source told Retail Gazette that staff were informed of the job cuts proposals via email on Wednesday morning.

An Asos spokesman confirmed with Retail Gazette that the consultation has commenced, but declined to comment any further.

However, it’s thought that around 100 jobs have been put into consultation as part of a strategic proposal that relates to potential changes at Asos’ customer care centre near Watford.

The affected jobs are reportedly from the night shift teams, which total 150 workers across 15 teams that comprise of 10 staff each.

The Retail Gazette understands that the proposed customer care centre changes are a response to Asos’ recent global growth as it seeks better ways to serve international customers in different languages.

Asos’ last major round of job cuts was back in October, when 100 staff from various departments were placed into consultation.
