The 135-bedroom Crowne Plaza Leeds hotel has completed a £4.5m refurbishment, 18 months after it was forced to close for eight weeks following the Boxing Day flood of 2015.
Located on Wellington Street, the investment has resulted in the creation of a new bar, restaurant, Club lounge, lobby, mezzanine level, grand staircase and installation of £25,000 of technology across its function suites. All the bedrooms have also been refurbished.
Lynda Coaley, general manager of the hotel (pictured), said “the dramatic refurbishment” had breathed new life into the hotel and the city’s tourism and leisure offering.

Managed by the UK division of Interstate Europe Hotels & Resorts, the Crowne Plaza Leeds reopened on 1 March last year after losing £1.2m in revenue during its enforced closure to allowed for an initial £1m refurbishment which involved a deep-clean and the replacement of 43 internal doors, 150sq m of carpet, and its entire IT, telephone, electrical and heating systems.
The swift and calm way in which the hotel dealt with the evacuation of the hotel and provided on-going support to guests following the floods resulted in the Crowne Plaza Leeds being presented with Extra Mile Award at the Hotel Cateys 2016.
