US young fashion brand American Apparel, which filed for bankruptcy last November, is reported to be readying an online comeback.
The intellectual property rights for the retailer, which focused on a “Made in the USA” branding, were bought by Canadian firm Gildan Activewear in January for £67m. Gildan has now said it will be re-activating the American Apparel website next week, according to the Daily Mail.
American Apparel once had 13 shops in the UK, with global sales of more than £460m, but it fell into difficulties after trying to tackle declining sales.
While Amercian Apparel used to produce all its products in the USA, Gildan has previously said that it will produce goods for the brand outside the USA and pass on savings to customers, while also providing the option to pay a premium for items made in America.
